Season 3 of Dragonball Z

I think everyone knows the jist of my opinion of season 3, but having seen about 15 (UPDATE I've seen all of the ones you have now!) of the new episodes, I feel I can give you a very detailed report of the changes made.

I am disgusted by the voice actors as a whole with a few exceptions. Guru's, Neil's, and Dende's voices have all been drasticaly improved. Yamucha, Tenshinhan and Chaozu's voices are pretty ass, especially for the "You're da bomb", etc... I must, however, congratulate FUNimation on actually deepening Furiza's voice for his transformations. Kuririn's voice has gotten better as the episodes go on and as his voice actor has gotten used to the part. (UPDATE) Thank Kamisama that Goku's voice didn't change when he went SSJ, that would have been lame and confusing to new fans...

Then there are the cons far out waying the pros of season 3's voice "acting". Gohan's voice is absolutely inexcusable! He is NOT a woman! He is a 5 year old boy! Also, Piccolo's voice has been ruined beyond recognition. Bejita's voice is bearable the say the very most. Son Goku sounds even more like a goody goody. And Buruma no longer has a brain in her head. Kaiousama was in an automobile accident, causing him to speak like he has Down syndrome and wears an awefully large retainer. (UPDATE) Gyuu Mao... well let's say the Gyuu Mao "Likes meat-loaf!". Tell me this man doesn't sound like a half witted moron! How about Chi chi? That's horrible! It doesn't even fit her character in any way! If anyone should have that voice, it should be Buruma, and Buruma's voice? Well let's boil Buruma's voice in a pot of tar and acid.

It seems that our friends at FUNimation now understand that when a person's head is cut off, or they are impaled by and incredibly powerful beam of ki, or they are cut in half, they DIE! And thank KAMISAMA for that! I am so relieved that Bejita is going to be KILLED, Furiza dies and Guru does not "phase into another dimension"!

Also, it seems that our heroes actually need that all-purpose life-supporting red liquid after all! And whenever they are savagely beaten, a few drops spill out here and there, nothing to worry about!

Now let's see here... hmm.. what am I forgetting? Oh yes, the ever so popular background shit... er... music. FUNimation does it again folks! Oh yes, they have saved us from feeling emotion toward our beloved heros and I can't thank them enough for that! I mean, take a look at this clip, listen to the background music and thank the heavens above that we aren't subject to... that masterful art that is the Japanese background music! And perish the thought that they actually SING!

And yes my fine otaku friends, we are still aparently "rocking the dragon" (UPDATE FUNimation has written a new theme song for Dragonball Z, let's hope it's good!!)(UPDATE: It isn't...). Might I bring up a point from another anime, Pokemon:

I wanna be the very best
like no one ever was
To catch them is my real test
To train them is my cause
I will travel across the land
searching far and wide
Each pokemon to understand
the power that's inside
It's you and me
I know it's my destiny
Oh you're my best friend
In a world we must defend
A heart so true
Our courage will pull us through
You teach me and I'll teach you
Gotta catch 'em all
Gotta catch 'em all

Hmm... wait a minute! The most popular cartoon in America is an Anime!?
Not only that, but it has a theme song that sends a message and makes sense! HOLD THE PHONE! How could children like a show with a good theme song!? Maybe it's because AMERICAN CHILDREN HAVE BRAINS!!!!
Maybe FUNimation doesn't understand that a rock and roll theme song and droning Shuki Levi style background music is RUINING DRAGON BALL Z!

(UPDATE) Ok, Rock the Dragon is a nice song (aside from the lyrics... or lack of them) but it just doesn't work for DBZ! Dragonball Z has a lot of fighting and death, Ok, I'll give you that. But how many shows have a bad guy that slowly... painfully... reluctantly turns GOOD! I mean, to see Bejita squirm at the thought of being nice to these patheticly weak Chikyuujin (check out my poem, "The Internal Struggle")... It's touching! And Piccolo! Piccolo was PURE EVIL! He killed people, never loved anything or anyone! And all of the sudden Gohan is like a son to him! That's unbelievable! But he didn't want to love Gohan! He said "I've never loved anyone before in my life... I don't like it!" but he saved Gohan's life so many times! "I sense a dying Ki, THAT BETTER NOT BE GOHAN!";"Good to see you Gohan"; I mean this is incredible character development! No no, Dragonball Z deserves a Great theme song like "Cha La Head Cha La" or better yet "We Gotta Power".
